UniKey Burner Tool
UniKey Burner is a tool for "hardcoding" settings onto a single or multiple UniKey device(s).
The Burner tool for UniKey STD, PRO and Time can be found within the UniKey SDK under the directory
UniKey SDK\Utilities\Burner\
The Burner tool for UniKey Drive can be found within the UniKey Drive SDK under the directory
UniKey Drive SDK\Utilities\Burner\
Using the Burner Tool
1. Launch the Burner tool.
2. After the Burner tool has launched, the Burner window will appear on the "Setting" tab by default. To begin configuring settings, input the four passwords in each PW1 to PW4 fields respectively (Factory default "1234"). To generate a new password, tick the "Generate New Passwords" and input the initial seed value[1] into the [SEED] field (Maximum 10 digit number). The new password is automatically generated using the given seed.
Warning: For reasons of security, each UniKey device can only generate a new password twice. If unable to reset the password, please see UniKey Password FAQ.
3. Next, choose the "SID Generation Method". Four methods of generating the software ID (SID) of the UniKey device(s) can be chosen:
| Method | Description |
|---|---|
| All the same | The same SID for all UniKey devices. |
| As Time/Date | The SID as the current time and date when set. |
| Increase | The SID as incremented by one from the previous SID. |
| Decrease | The SID as decremented by one from the previous SID. |
Note: Unless the SID generation method [As Time/Date] is selected, a new (initial) SID must be entered in the [New SID].
Under "UKY Files", click the [...] icon to load *.uky files generated from the UniKey Console tool (see UniKey Console Tool#Generate).
All settings under the "Setting" tab can be saved and later loaded for quick burning of UniKey devices. Settings can be saved to a specified file by clicking [Save], and likewise, settings can be loaded through [Load]. To reset settings, click [Reset].
4. After configuring all settings, plug the UniKey device to burn in an available USB port.
Caution: Ensure the UniKey device to burn is the correct one by ensuring only the involved UniKey device is plugged in.
To burn multiple UniKey device, tick the box "In Batch", otherwise leave it unchecked to burn a single device.
Once ready, click [Burn].
Important! Do not remove the UniKey device during the burning process. Doing so will cause severe damage to the device.
The progress bar will display the percentage of completion below the "Progress" window, where details of the burning process can be viewed.
5. Once completed, remove the UniKey device and click "X" to exit. If the [In Batch] option was selected, a window notifying to plug the next UniKey device to burn will popup. Remove and plug the next UniKey device, then click [OK] to continue, otherwise click "X" to exit.
6. After burning settings to a UniKey device(s), output logs can be viewed from the "Record" tab. All burning records are automatically saved in the burn.log file, including newly generated passwords if "Generate New Passwords" was selected.
To print the log file, click [Print].
