UniToken Lite is a USB-based hardware key allowing secure web authentication for ASP, PHP and HTML by means of two-factor authentication; The first factor is the device itself, in which the user must physically possess, whereas the second factor is the password, held by the appropiate user, used to authenticate with the key. Successful authentication therefore requires the correct password in addition to the proper token device to satisfy the two authentication requirements and be granted access.
The two-factor USB authenticator employs the logon request and challenge system, after which a logon request has been recieved, the web server will challenge the logon request by demand of verification information. If the verification information submitted is incorrect, the authentication attempt will be denied. This process increases the level of authentication heavily, involving the comparison of both the logon password generated from the hardware key and the password submitted by the user.
